Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between deletions of multiple tumor suppressor gene-p16/MTS1 and acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL).Methods p16 gene was analysed by polymerase chain reaction in 30 cases of acute lymphocytic leukemia and correlated with clinical results. Results p16 gene deletions were found in 15 samples, and high risk patients had a markedly higher probability of p16 gene deletion(P<0.05) and the high risk patients with p16 deletion showed higher relapse. Conclusion The deletion of p16 gene is associated with prognosis of ALL.
