[Abstract] Purpose To evaluate the difference between dual-phase and three-phase enhancing helical CT for finding and diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma. Methods 42 cases of pancreatic carcinoma were divided into A and B two groups. The A group includes 26 cases underwent three-phase CT scan with helical acquisition during the mean 28 (A phase),105 (P phase) and 300 seconds (delay phase) after injection of intravenous contrast medium.B group includes the other 16 cases underwent dual-phase CT scan during mean 28 (A phase) and 130 seconds (later P phase) after injection contrast medium.Mean CT attenuation values between normal pancreas and tumor and the number of metastasis of liver during the different phases were compared. Results Mean pancreas-tumor contrast was significantly great during portal phase and the metastasis of liver were better shown during later portal phase. Conclusion Dual phase helical CT can be as routine examination for diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.
