【Abstract】 Objective To study the expression of thrombomodulin (TM) in gastric carcinoma. Methods The expression of TM in 40 cases of gastric carcinoma was detected by means of immunohistochemical ABC.Results Among the 18 cases of gastric carcinoma of intestinal type, 15 were positive for TM (83.3%), 11 out of 22 cases of gastric carcinoma of diffuse type were positive for TM(50.0%), 19 of 23 gastric carcinoma patients over 60 years old were positive for TM (82.6%), 7 of 17 gastric carcinoma patients under 60 years old were positive for TM (41.2%), showing that the expression of TM in gastric carcinoma of intestinal type was significantly higher than that in gastric carcinoma of diffuse type, and that the expression of TM in gastric carcinoma patients over 60 years old was significantly higher than in those under 60 years old. Conclusion TM was overexpressed in gastric carcinoma of intestinal type as compared with that in gastric carcinoma of diffuse type.
